Japan plans to offer a further $1.94B in help to Rapidus, a government-backed chip consortium that’s working with IBM to mass produce 2nm chips  —  Cash going to R&D, together with dispatching of engineers to IBM  —  Rapidus is a key piece of Japan’s efforts to carry superior semiconductor manufacturing again to the nation.
